Protect the Ruby Sanctum!

Posted on 24 February 2010 by admin

As it stands now, the Lich King Arthas is no longer a threat to the races of Azeroth. Top guilds are now gunning for the heroic modes, but that too will soon grow old far before Cataclysm hits the public test realms. Because of this, Blizzard has announced a pretty exciting prelude that should tide over our need for content during the last long stretch before the next expansion.

The “updated Under Development page” reveals Patch 3.3.5 will bring the new Ruby Sanctum, a 10 and 25-player raid dungeon, which requires the valiant heroes who defeated the Lich King to defend the shrine of Alexstrasza from the black dragonflight. Gamers have suggested the dungeon will act as a smooth transition as well to spotlighting Deathwing as the new big bad boss in Cataclysm. Will the new dungeon offer loot that breach the ilvl 300 mark? Will the other shrines be endangered as well? Stay tuned for updates as news trickles in from Blizzard.

Know Your Klingons

Posted on 24 February 2010 by Allen Powers

Cryptic has just made a dedicated thread for players to fire all their Klingon questions. Ever since the Klingon Empire became a playable faction in Star Trek Online (after unlocking them of course as a Federation captain), gamers have been anxious to know what’s in store for the fierce warriors of Alpha Quadrant. We think the more interesting or compelling the question, the more chances it will get answered in the next Ask Cryptic newsletter.

Another tip is to read through the first two installments (here and here) released so you don’t repeat the same question asked before. Also, run your question by a spellchecker and avoid mobile text language at all costs. You may have phaser hot questions, but somehow, we doubt developers will take in grammar-challenged queries if only to avoid the hassles of editing. They have a lot on their plate right now, you know, like working out the major kinks in ground combat (*crosses fingers*).

Stalking VanaFest Online

Posted on 24 February 2010 by admin

Yep, we’re that eager to find out what the big “announcement” will be—which our gut tells us will have something to do with whether FFXI will receive another expansion or close up in preparation for the upcoming FFXIV. Since we can’t fly off to Japan, we’re nibbling on the tidbits being uploaded on the web. The Facebook account of VanaFest 2010 has some pictures of the preparations leading up to the big day, but nothing spoilerish yet. We also follow the Twitter account for the Festival, and the latest tweets show the crew, including FFXI producer Hiromichi Tanaka, in the final planning stages. Check back often for when more juicy pics pop up from both feeds.

After more than a week of drunken fun, April will usher in Bristlebane’s Day—Norrath’s own version of April Fool’s! Join the mischief or be craft-y in all the home cities. Mark those calendars because these you won’t want to miss these two events of debauchery.
